Blue Shield Georgia organized a five day training course – “First Aid to Cultural Heritage in times of Crisis” at the Art School of Nikozi in March. This followed another training course held in Tblisi in January.
The participants learned about the threats to cultural heritage and participated in practical exercises. The goal of the project is to prepare a team of professionals and with their help, train young volunteers in issues of cultural heritage protection in times of crisis.
Within the framework of the project, it is also planned to publish the Georgian translation of the ICCROM manual and toolkit – “First Aid for Cultural Heritage in Times of Crisis”. The handbook is an important tool for professionals involved in the field of cultural heritage protection and contains the latest advice for protecting any type of heritage in times of crisis.
The project is funded by a US Embassy grant.
