Governance and Structure

The Blue Shield is composed of a number of national committees, coordinated by an international board.

The Blue Shield International Board (BSI) is composed of a President and four individuals who are normally members of the Board of a national committee, elected by the General Assembly. In addition, the four founding international organisations have a representative on the International Board:

Under its 2016 Statutes (also called the Articles of Association), BSI is a non-government, non-profit organisation with full legal status under Dutch law. The statutes set out the mission of the Blue Shield and the role and responsibilities of BSI and of national committees.
