Welcome to new Board Members and Congratulations!
The Blue Shield is delighted to welcome Ömer Dabanlı to our vacant seat on the international Board. Dr Dabanlı is the President (and a founding member) of Blue Shield Türkiye. Dr Dabanlı fills the seat vacated by Joanne Farchakh Bajjaly of Lebanon, elected in 2023, until the 2026 elections. Joanne stepped down in 2024 to focus on her country. We thank her for her service to the Blue Shield Board, and Dr Dabanlı for his support.
We also offer sincere thanks to Anna Puhr, Deputy Secretary General of Blue Shield Austria, who has stepped into the position of Secretary of the international Board and Bureau for the Association.
The international Board now consists of:
- Professor Peter Stone, President
- Anna Puhr, Secretary – elected from the Austrian Committee of the Blue Shield
- Klaus Weschenfelder, Treasurer – elected from the German Blue Shield Committee
- Ömer Dabanlı – co-opted from the Türkish Blue Shield Committee
- Hamady Gaye – elected from the Senegalese Blue Shield Committee
- ICA is represented by Carlos Eduardo Serrano Vásquez, ICA Executive Director
- ICOM is represented by Medea Ekner, ICOM’s Director-General
- ICOMOS is represented by Michał Wosiński, an expert member of ICOMOS ICLAFI – International Scientific Committee on Legal Administrative and Financial Issues, and heritage expert
- IFLA is represented by Sharon Memis, Secretary General and CEO of IFLA.
