Blue Shield and Heritage for Peace were pleased to host two online Webinars on Supporting Syrians and their Heritage, on Friday 20 December and Monday 20 January.
After years of conflict, Syria’s cultural heritage is known to be at significant risk. In light of the rapidly changing situation in Syria, and the urgent need to ensure heritage protection, we invite you to hear from Syrians across the country, each facing different challenges. We will hear about DGAM areas where control has recently changed, and from Palmyra, North-East Syria, North-West Syria, and from Idleb.
In Part One of this event, speakers will outline the situation before the war, and the situation facing cultural heritage, and cultural heritage workers now? In Part Two, speakers will outline the challenges and obstacles to heritage protection in their regions, and their specific needs to continue to protect Syria’s rich cultural heritage.
