NATO And Blue Shield Sign Letter of Intent for Cultural Property Protection
Recognising their vital relationship, Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE), of NATO, and the Blue Shield, have established and signed a Letter of Intent to foster further cooperation in Cultural Property Protection (CPP).
Both parties will encourage cooperation activities to promote cooperation through:
- Regular dialogue and exchange of information;
- Education Training Exercises and Evaluation;
- Exchange of materials in education, research and publications;
- Participation in public events and international conferences.
The Letter was formally signed on 15 June 2020. We look forward to holding a formal celebration of the event in person as soon as circumstances allow!
Allied Command Operations (ACO) is one of The North Atlantic Treaty Organisation’s (NATO) two strategic military commands. The other command being Allied Command Transformation (ACT) in Norfolk, Virginia.
ACO is commanded by the Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR) and is responsible for all Alliance military operations. The command headquarters, known as Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe, or SHAPE, is located in Casteau near Mons, Belgium. The mission of ACO and the SACEUR is to contribute to preserving the peace, security and territorial integrity of NATO member nations in its area of responsibility.
SHAPE’s Mission is to prepare for, plan and conduct military operations in order to meet Alliance political objectives.
