Museum protection begins in Georgia

Blue Shield Georgia are carrying out special studies on the current state of the museum collections of Kaspi Municipality with funding from the International Alliance for the Protection of Cultural Heritage in Conflict Regions (ALIPH) foundation. Four museums are involved.

The study will document the current state of conservation of the collections through a 3-month-long process of recording environmental conditions in each museum. This will be followed by evaluating existing and potential threats and damage to the collections, along with a mycological study, which will analyze samples from each museum.

During the first visit, they installed temperature and humidity meters in four museums: Ivane Javakhishvili and Giorgi Mazniashvili house-museums, Lamiskana Jambakur-Orbeliani Palace-Museum and Giorgi Khorguashvili Museum of Local Lore.
