Blue Shield Mali visited the Malian Minister of Handicrafts, Culture, Hotel Industry and Tourism to inform him of the activities of the Committee on Thursday, October 26, 2023, in partnership with Blue Shield Senegal to request its support for the implementation of its action plan. The Committee handed over copies of the Statutes and Rules of Procedure, the 1954 Convention and its two Protocols, an example of the brochure produced with German funding, and a Blue Shield vest. The Minister congratulated and expressed his willingness to accompany the Committee. He gave a lot of advice and invited the Committee to sensitize the defence and security forces on the 1954 Convention and its two Protocols for a better protection of cultural heritage. Finally, the Minister asked the Blue Shield to support Mali’s file with the Committee for the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict during the December 2023 session so that the Tomb of the Askia in Gao, Mali, can have definitive reinforced protection.
