On 05-08 November, Blue Shield International attended the Civil Military Interaction Symposium in Ulm, organised by NATO Multinational Joint Headquarters (MNJHQ) Ulm – an invitation we were delighted to accept. The symposium allowed those present to discuss lessons learned by staff who attended Exercise Trident Jaguar 2018, but also to consider the challenges ahead, looking at broad reaching topics where CPP sat alongside, economic security, development, protection of children in conflict, corruption, human trafficking and other key cross-cutting themes. Dr Paul fox of BSI presented on CPP lessons learned from TRJG18 (available in our recent report), alongside other major organisations including Transparency International, Institute of Economics and Peace, the UN Office on Drugs and Crime, Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), and the European Union External Action Service.
In addition to his widely well-received presentation, Dr Fox was personally thanked by Lt General Knappe for his contribution to TRJR18, and for his work not only raising awareness of the importance of Civil Military Cooperation (CIMIC), but for his contributions in developing the concept.
