The Vice-President of the Blue Shield International, Professor Peter Stone, will attend the 13th meeting of the Committee for the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict, as laid down in the Second Protocol.
The Blue Shield International is on the draft agenda to highlight the work and impact of the Blue Shield organisation in proactive protection of cultural property at risk from armed conflict across the world. Request for international assistance, the granting of enhanced protection, possible implementations of the Second Protocol are among the other topics that will be discussed. The meeting will be held in Paris, UNESCO Headquarters, from 6 to 7 December 2018.
The Blue Shield was granted advisory status to UNESCO with regards to CPP under Article 27 (3) of the 1999 Second Protocol to the 1954 Hague Convention.
