A Blue Shield has been placed on an Artillery Museum in Draguignan, France, one of the first (if not the first) in the country). The placement is part of a series of events for the 70th Anniversary of the 1954 Hague Convention.
From July 14 to September 30, 2024, the Artillery Museum will host the traveling exhibition “The Art of Protection: 1954-2024 (70 years of the Hague Convention for the Protection of Property in the Event of Armed Conflict)”. The central objective of the exhibition is to trace the recent history of the protection of cultural property and to understand the contemporary issues of the protection of cultural property in armed conflict zones. It also aims to reflect the role that France has played in this area, from the First World War to the present day. This traveling exhibition is the result of the investment on this subject of curators with military training (Army Heritage Delegation, Defense Communication and Audiovisual Production Establishment, etc.). Its presentation in Draguignan is the first step; it will also be shown in various military museums in France.
A conference will be held on Wednesday, September 25 at 6 p.m. at the headquarters at 21 Allées d’Azema by Mr. Jacques Rebière, president of LC2R – Draguignan and Blue Shield France.
