On June 22, Blue Shield hosted a training titled “First Aid to Cultural Heritage in Times of Crisis” at the Koda Community Education Center, designed for young volunteers. The trainers began by emphasising the significance of cultural heritage and the necessity of its preservation. Beyond theoretical discussions, the training incorporated hands-on exercises, prompting participants to create presentations on cultural heritage sites that hold personal significance to them. The concluding segment of the training involved a simulation game, geared towards enhancing the practical skills of the volunteers.
On June 8, the training was held in Tetritskaro Youth Center. Volunteers discussed the threats to cultural heritage and participated in practical exercises. Additionally, the participants discussed the state of tangible and intangible cultural heritage in their region and, together with the trainers, identified ways to solve existing problems.
A seminar for students – “Basic concepts of cultural heritage” – was held by the Blue Shield Georgia at Shaumiani Community Education Center. They discussed types and examples of cultural heritage, and the importance of cultural heritage protection. In addition to the theoretical part, the seminar also included practical exercises in which the students actively participated.
The goal of the project is to train a team of trainers and, with their help, train young volunteers in protecting cultural heritage in times of crisis.
The project is funded by the US Embassy Tbilisi, Georgia.
